We aim to enable our creative community.
Over the last four years Colour Box Studio has provided a platform for our community to explore their creativity. In doing this we’ve created opportunities for artists and creatives to showcase their artistic practices through Pop Up Shops, Workshops, Events, Exhibitions and via our online platforms.
Colour Box Studio currently operates as a pop up space with creative programs in different places and spaces around Melbourne – we’re like an ongoing festival.
Colour Box Studio was founded in 2012 by Australian Solomon Islander filmmaker, community arts practitioner and creative producer Amie Batalibasi. With the help of a team of dedicated (and AWESOME) volunteers, an old tattoo parlour in Footscray was transformed into a community creative hub.
Colour Box Studio is unique because we aim to cater to a diverse range of interests and we continue to evolve, change and grow according to what our creative community needs and wants.

We offer innovative arts programs for creatives & communities in Melbourne and beyond. Engage your creativity.
We facilitate a creative community through our membership program. Join a creative network of other like-minded people and find opportunities to showcase your work.
We run creative workshops and events. Learn new skills, participate in creative business training or a unique community arts event.
Our Management Team plans and manages creative programs. We also have wonderful volunteers who help with events, design, pop up shops, blogging and more. Although we’ve done heaps and we sometimes look like a big resourced organisation (because of the wonderful peeps we work with!), we are a relatively small entity trading as Colour Box Studio and set up under director Amie Batalibasi.
Colour Box Studio Founder and Director
I am an Australian Solomon Islander filmmaker, community arts practitioner and creative producer based in Melbourne.
What you do at Colour Box Studio: I’m across the board dealing with the day to day management and programming – from liasing with stakeholders, to chatting with creatives, to social networking & publicity, to managing bookings and maintaining the website… It’s a juggling act but I love it!
Why you do it: I am passionate about community, culture, storytelling and using creativity to create social change. www.amiebatalibasi.com

Colour Box Studio Programs Coordinator
I’m an emerging arts manager and producer of participatory arts projects. I’m passionate about presenting art that is interactive and non-intimidating, and which allows participants/audiences to engage their own creativity.
What you do: My main duties include working with Amie and artists to develop Colour Box Studio’s program of creative workshops, coordinate events and services for Colour Box Studio Members, and run arts projects like the Disposable Camera Project. I also help out with online marketing, mentoring emerging artists and generally acting as an ambassador for Colour Box Studio.
Why you do it: I love seeing the positive effect Colour Box Studio has on artists’ careers and hearing enthusiastic feedback from people who participate in our programming. It’s been great watching Colour Box Studio grow since 2013 and helping it to evolve to meet the needs of our creative community.
