Colour Box Studio kicked off the year with the ‘Disposable Containers Project’ pop-up exhibition – the work of several local artists was on show to the public for six days and was a stop on the Footscray Art Crawl, led by Chantal Wynter.
We presented a fantastic program of creative workshops that saw people walking away with new skills and a finished product – like Liz Doust’s popular Learn to Screen Print in a Day workshop!
… and Kirri-MaDe’s macramé-inspired T-Shirt to Treasure weaving workshop!
We also featured the work of local artists and creatives on our YouTube Channel – check out this webisode made by Sara Elizabeth Harney about Ms Murphy Flowers.
Tasha Whittle’s vibrant painting went up on the old Colour Box Studio alleyway walls for Cosmic Forest – Art Crawl visitors had colourful portraits painted and listened to jazz piano! This interactive public art display cooincided with another Art Crawl led by Chantal Wynter.
We featured and interviewed a host of Melbourne’s creative community on the Colour Box Studio blog including Bats of Leisure who ran two embroidery workshops (at Pozible HQ pictured above). Catch up on your blog reading: click here.
Colour Box Studio Members Shae Rooke and William Head took part in West Projections, run by Wynter Projects, along with many other artists and Footscray creative spaces. Above image: Shae Rooke’s MicroCosmic at Ruffian Gallery.
We help a pop-up shop and several workshops at Craft Cubed – Australia’s biggest annual craft festival! Pictured: Collage making with Nicole Kennedy…
and an awesome exclusive Colour Box Studio workshop – DIY Terrarium, Pot and Macrame Hanger in One Day with Kirri-made and Ms Murphy Flowers.
The Colour Box Studio Disposable Camera Project – CBSDCP – was a huge success this year, with over 100 participants; partnerships with Ruffian Gallery, Prism Imaging and the Asia Pacific Photobook Archive; and nearly three thousand photos on the walls – watch this space for info about CBSDCP: 2015 Edition.
We were lucky enough to meet and work with some fantastic and dedicated volunteers – like Kiara pictured above! Thanks to everyone who supported Colour Box Studio in 2014!
