Tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do?
I’m a dj and record collector, influenced by hip hop and its roots (soul, funk, jazz blues etc).
How did you come to it?
Listening to Rap tapes from Public Enemy, N.W.A, Eric B & Rakim etc which are heavily influenced by the art of dj’ing…wanted to imitate Terminator X (Public Enemy) and went about learning about records and djing.
Tell us a about your past projects and what has been your most treasured creation?
Started doing various mixtapes/cd’s over the years, a few with my own production/beats as well. Hit the radio stations doing guest spots and then the clubs.
Where did you grow up and has it influenced what you create?
Grew up in the western suburbs of Melbourne, there weren’t that many people around who listened to Rap so I guess it helped me be more vigilant when researching and learning about the artform…
Where do you feel most creative?
When doing mix cd’s, I can basically play whatever i want and do various theme styled mixes.
What will you be working on next?
Same thing as always, mixes and club spots every now and then.
What can visitors to expect to see when they visit the Colour Box Studio Night projections?
To have fun and to fumble many times when starting out djing!
Where can we see more of your work?
What is the workshop you will be facilitating at Colour Box Studio and what can participants expect to learn.
I will be facilitating a djing workshop titled ‘Fixed On Wax’. Participants will learn some history of the DJ, gain some insight into turntable set-up & controls and get hands-on with mixing in beats and looping them.
Tickets are still available for this workshop. To book, click here.
