Nikki is a screenwriter and producer drawn to stories that drive social awareness and representation through humour, imagination and a healthy dose of cynicism.
Nikki has a background in media and communication, and graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts with a Master of Producing. In 2014, she was sponsored by Film Finances Inc to attend Telluride Film Festival’s Student Symposium as an international participant, joining other North American students for a week of curated screenings and discussions with festival guests in Colorado, USA.
In the past, she’s worked with community organisations to produce video-based projects, and is now part of Footscray Community Art Centre’s professional development initiative, West Writers Group program. Her short film screenplay ‘When We Run’, based on family stories of fleeing Vietnam in the 1970s, was a 2016 finalist in the BlueCat Screenplay Competition.
Nikki is undertaking a residency at ACMI X in 2017, her latest project is FRESH!, a comedy web series set at a local market, which tackles racial tensions, gentrification and what it means to belong to a community struggling with modern life, big business and each other.
