Description
In this workshop, skilful silk-painter Ida Suod will guide you through the process of creating your own beautifully hand-painted silk scarf. It is a sensual way of self-expression and a perfect way to create personalised unique gifts. You will learn and experiment with various silk painting techniques and colour mixing using primary colours. Ida will also demonstrate various ways to wear your scarf.

The following materials will be provided to make your own silk scarf:
• 90 x 90 cm hand-rolled silk scarf • Pre-stretched silk hoops for practise • Bamboo sumi brushes • silk dyes (Yellow, Red, Blue, Black, Brown Sienna) • Waterbased resist • Silk Salt for creating special effects • Resist applicators and bottles • Patterns (or bring your own patterns) • Gloves • Plastic cups.

(Basic materials as listed above are included and everything you need to make your scarf. Additional materials are available for purchase on the day if you feel like more experimenting. Price list: click here.)

Facilitator – Ida Suod
Ida Suod was born in Singapore to a loving Javanese/Bugis couple. She has now made Melbourne home. She has tremendous passion for batik and silk painting. Her silk paintings, hand-painted silk scarves and hand-dyed silk scarves are known as Studio 941. Ida also paints on wedding gowns and evening wear. In the recent Melbourne Spring Fashion Week, Ida introduced her resort and intimate wear collection. Ida’s gorgeous silk art can be purchased at various boutiques in Melbourne and Singapore.

PARTICIPANT INFORMATION
Bring apron if you don’t want to get dyes on your beautiful clothes or wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dye on. Basic materials, as well as snacks will be provided.
