After presenting a great drop-in workshops program and pop-up shop at last year’s Craft Cubed Festival, Colour Box Studio is excited to be getting crafty again this August and September.

Saturday 8 August, 11am-4pm at Melbourne Polytechnic, PrahranColour Box Studio presents this popular workshop facilitated by Liz Doust of ambette.Spend the day with Liz, getting your creative groove on – you’ll learn some screen printing basics before designing your own artwork to print, turning your artwork into a stencil and then finally printing your awesome design onto fabric. Don’t worry if you don’t think you have any artistic talent – even super-simple geometric shapes look really effective printed onto fabric. Anyone can do it – you’ll surprise yourself!

Sunday 16 August, 10am-2:30pm at The Cause Melbourne, Melbourne CBDColour Box Studio presents a super-Sunday double-adornment workshop with Eavan Murphy of Ms MurphyFlowers and Kirri-Mae Sampson of Kirri-MaDe.Make your own flower crown with Eavan, a talented florist and former sculpture artist who’s got the know-how to make charming floral arrangements that will last AND make a stunning statement piece.The MacramĂ© Necklace workshop comes directly from Kirri-Mae’s practice of upcycling preloved t-shirts into statement jewellery pieces. Learning about best ways to deconstruct the t-shirt as well as macrame techniques to utilise in the making, participants will be able to create something beautiful, with the added advantage of redirecting textile waste from Australia’s landfills.

Saturday 5 September, 12.30-3:30pm at Aacute Studio, YarravilleColour Box Studio presents the Aacute Jewellery Making Workshop facilitated by sister duo designers Julie and Kelly Tran, at their new Yarraville studio location.The 3 hour workshop will cover Aacute‘s geometric and marbling aesthetics.  You’ll learn cutting methods and how to facet, jewellery assembling techniques, colour mixing & marbling, and glazing and oven baking.  Participants will be provided with all materials to make a necklace (or two!) and a pair of earrings, a goody bag, an instruction sheet to take home and keep creating, as well as free tea, coffee & biccies!

Saturday 19 September, 11am-1pm starting at Trocadero Art Space, FootscrayColour Box Studio presents Foot It by Wynter Projects – a series of guided walking and riding tours of galleries, creative spaces, pop-up performances, public art and backyard studios. Meet the innovative creatives, superbly talented makers and the Avant-garde artists.This FOOT IT tour will be a craft inspired art walk in Footscray designed for Craft Cubed 2015. Artist Annee Miron will open her studio offering us a glimpse of her large-scale sculptures, hand-crafted by reused cardboard. We will visit one of Annee’s extraordinary pieces down a local alleyway. 100 Story Building artist-in-resident Anne Kucera, will offer insight into her incredibly intricate paper pop-up pieces and window display. A stroll down the street to an artist in a shipping container at The Art Box. Around the corner to VU Metro West where Anna Brandford will give an introduction to Craftivism; crafting with political activist intent. Providing us with conversation and a coffee at Co-cafĂ©.

Sunday 20 September, 10am-2:30pm at The Work Room, FootscrayThe dynamic duo are back to present this favourite Colour Box Studio double workshop!Eavan Murphy of Ms. Murphy Flowers will guide you through how to design, create and care for your very own terrarium including plants and a little animal. You will also decorate your own concrete vessel – learn how to decorate it and pair up with your terrarium (or fill it with plants!).

Designer and maker Kirri-Mae of Kirri-MaDe label will show you how to weave your own macramĂ© terrarium/ pot hanger for the items you’ve just made. Learn the art of macrame and specific knotting techniques to create a sturdy and well designed hanger that is sure to be a talking piece in your home.
