We’ll bring winter warmth, creativity and fun to Footscray Mall for the evening with a free, family friendly community arts and culture event. Showcasing talented local artists and performers, audiences will be sure to warm their souls with an immersive and creative experience, right here in the heart of Footscray.
This afternoon to night-time activation will feature local artists, performers and organisations to bring entertainment and interaction to the mall through engaging video projections, craft workshops, comedy performances, a hot chocolate stall, oh and a DANCE FLOOR INSTALLATION to get the heart pumping!
This event will welcome residents and visitors alike to celebrate the vibrancy and diversity of our community along with local Footscray traders.

- 4-6pm: Fun craft workshops in the mall with artist Tab Sejoe and delicious hot chocolate stall by Living Koko
- 5-6pm: Roving Comedy Tour in the mall with special guest comedians led by Footscray Comedy Club
- From dark onwards: Video projections & screen works in the mall curated by local artist initiative Trocadero Projects
- 4pm-10pm: Staying Alive! dance floor installation by Alejandra Díaz at Nicholson St Rail bridge
- Creatures, fire performers and bubble performances to activate areas in and around the Nicholson St Mall & Rail Bridge, Footscray train station, Maddern Square and Little Africa. GIANT BUBBLE SHOW 7PM – Irving St, between Footscray Train Station and Nicholson St Rail Bridge.

4-6pm: Hot Chocolate Stall by Living Koko
Enjoy a deliciously warm and deep rich hot chocolate by our friends at Living Koko. Living Koko empowers communities in the Pacific Islands through fair, ethical trade and bringing the best cacao in the world to its customers. Supporting ecologically sound and sustainable methods of farming.
4-6pm: Craft workshops with Tab Sejoe
Join multidisciplinary local artist Tab Sejoe, for a quick and fun workshop that lets you engage your inner creative! Get the creative juices flowing in this card making workshop that will allow you to create a keepsake and memory from your Junction Footscray experience. Open to all ages.
5-6pm: Roving Comedy Tour by Footscray Comedy Club
Expect big laughs, unique stories and joyful memories from the Footscray Comedy Club hosting a roving comedy tour around the mall including comedians Krutika Harale, Urvi Majumdar and Showko Showfukutei led by MC Jameel Rehman from the Footscray Comedy Club. And you’re likely to meet a local Footscray trader on the way! The tour starts at 5PM at the Nicholson St mall, Footscray (Barkly St end, near the information hub).
6-10PM Visual Works Curated by Trocadero Projects
Experience light and art with projections and video activations curated by Trocadero Projects throughout the mall shopfronts and buildings. Trocadero Projects is an artist-run initiative operating in the city of Maribyrnong. Trocadero mentors, supports and encourages a diverse, creative, experimental and innovative collective of artists and organisations in Footscray. Trocadero has curated a series of video and projection works by local and emerging artists, to bring the Footscray mall to life. Artists include Lena Becerra, Chelle Destefano, Jenna Lee, Ivy Mutuku, Kalu Oji and Chunxiao Qu. Thanks to SM Cosmetics and 100 Story Building for hosting some of video sites.
4-10pm: Staying Alive! dance floor installation by Alejandra Díaz
Experience a site-specific work of art designed for the Nicholson St Rail Bridge, Footscray by artist Alejandra Diaz. The ‘Staying Alive installation is designed for people to come across an unexpected place and be able to dance with strangers and experience a new perspective on the Nicholson Street Rail Bridge.
4:30-9:30pm Roving Performers in & around Footscray
Roving Performance: Interdimensional CreaturesOtherworldly entities are crossing over into this dimension. They bring with them mesmerising portals of light and colour, transporting you back through the fabric of time and space. Encounters with these beings are possible only in darkness, where their illumination pierces through our horizon. What will encountering these beings mean? Their intentions are unknown. Curated by Ryn Hooligan, performers will activate areas between Nicholson St Mall & Rail Bridge, Maddern Square and Footscray train station.
