Local & Ethical Shopping

Our 2012 Pop Up Shop is going swimmingly!

Since our Nov 7th Grand Opening, the Colour Box Studio Pop Up Shop has been attended by wonderful Colour Box Studio volunteers (including Emma – pictured above). We have had lots of people through the store but if you haven’t had a chance to pop in to the pop up yet, here is a bit of a virtual tour around the shop which showcases over 20 Melbourne artists. Everything is crafted and designed in Melbourne with many artists based in the West. We are proud to support local and ethical shopping!

We’re open 12-6PM until Christmas including Christmas Eve. Late night shopping on Wednesday 19th December to coincide with our Christmas Party.

Seedling Pot Maker by Wood be Good.

These Seedling Pot Makers are handmade locally in Yarraville using 90% recycled materials by Wood Be Good. It’s a seedling pot maker that needs no glue or staples, just recycled newspaper. The pot then decomposes in your garden when you plant it. A great gift idea for those with a green thumb and good for kids too. They’re only priced at $15.

Wood Be Good has also made some lovely handprinted wrapping paper on recycled paper. We love the environmentally friendly factor of these items!

If you’re looking for a good all rounder Chris Cringle gift or a perfect stocking filler look no further than this range of Designer Mugs by leaf mugs. Laura from leaf mugs started up her business because she couldn’t find anywhere to make a small quantity of custom made mugs. She designs these wonderful fun prints and has even made a special Christmas range. We also have an instore option to design your own – some kids have made some very cute drawings which have been transfered to mugs for Chrissy gifts. Mugs are $15 in store and custom made mugs are $20.

We also have these funky colourful felt gadget covers by Ambette – clean modern lines with a retro twist, ambette uses bold blocks of colour and natural fibres to create unique cases for Macbooks, iPads, Kindles and iPhones. Each piece is designed and handmade in Melbourne, Australia, with high-quality workmanship and materials.

More bright colourful creations come to us with the Pacific Womens Weaving Circle woven jewellery. Pacific Womens Weaving Circle is a group  of Pacific women that get together regularly in the West to share stories, laugh and weave together. The Pop Up Shop Showcases some of their beautiful creations – contemporary designs based on traditional cultural weaves and making methods. Their work has been called “Pacific Bling” and you can see why! Prices start at $15 (a pair of earrings for example) – so reasonable!

We have 3 wonderful local illustrator labels in our Pop Up Shop – Able and Game, Hannakin and Milk and Cookies. Each has their own unique style and flair – you will also find archival quality prints by Milk and Cookies and Hannakin. Able and Game also have tea towels, calendars and diaries (these will make you giggle).
