Three Years and Over 300 Artists Showcased: Colour Box Studio Turns Three

Colour Box Studio celebrates its 3rd birthday with a one night Throw Up Your Art Exhibition on 19th November at The Food Court, Docklands, featuring the artwork of local Melbourne artists and a Colour Box Studio Membership Drive.

Colour Box Studio provides art based opportunities for diverse creatives and communities in the Melbourne. We strive towards building a vibrant creative community, through offering opportunities for artists and creatives to showcase their artistic practices through pop-up shops, workshops, events, exhibitions and via our online platforms.

“Colour Box Studio was founded on the ideals of people power, supporting each other and the desire to nurture Melbourne’s creative talent. I believe that artists and creatives need more opportunities in order to be able to follow their creative passions. And so, Colour Box Studio aims to enable our creative community,” says Melbourne filmmaker and Colour Box Studio Director Amie Batalibasi.

Over the last 3 years, Colour Box Studio has showcased over 300 local Melbourne creatives, collaborating with a diverse range of artists in different fields. For example, our projects include the Colour Box Studio Disposable Camera Project (CBSDCP) spearheaded by our Events and Projects Coordinator Kristina Arnott, which has successfully been running for 2 years and engaged over 100 budding photographers city wide.

We’ve showcased across artforms including performance art, public art, sound art, music, art tours, writing, video art, craft, fashion, illustration and more. We’ve hosted three pop up shops and a market allowing artists to make an income from their wares. We’ve held over 70 creative workshops all around Melbourne, encouraging our audience to engage their creativity and providing work opportunities for artists to follow and share their creative passions.
